Remedy Updates: Control 2, Condor, and Max Payne Remakes Progressing Smoothly

09/08/2024 Noah Taylor 147

As we gear up for another weekend, Remedy Entertainment has dropped some exciting updates on their upcoming projects, including Control 2, the multiplayer spin-off Project Condor, and the highly anticipated Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes.

Control 2 is steadily moving forward, with Remedy confirming that the game has reached the "production readiness stage." They’ve delivered a build showcasing several key features in playable form and are now gearing up for full production. While we eagerly await a teaser trailer, it’s clear that Control 2 is on the right track. Let’s hope it brings back that oh-so-satisfying telekinesis sound effect that made the original so memorable.

On the Max Payne front, the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake has advanced from production readiness to full production. The development team is hard at work on a version of the game that can be played from start to finish, ensuring the remake will do justice to the beloved classics. Meanwhile, Project Condor, the multiplayer Control spin-off, is also showing promise. The team has developed multiple maps and mission types and has conducted extensive internal and limited external playtesting to fine-tune the experience.

Earlier this year, Remedy acquired the rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, giving them complete control over the series' future. They also canceled a collaboration with Tencent, codenamed Kestrel, to focus their resources on existing franchises. Since then, Remedy has been exploring self-publishing options and discussing potential partnerships for both the Control and Alan Wake series. We can expect more updates on these fronts towards the end of the year.

In the meantime, here’s a fun idea: how about a Control spin-off series inspired by keyboard shortcuts? Imagine a detective game called CTRL+F, an open-world adventure titled CTRL+O, or even a special minigame called CTRL-Alt-Delete, where you can “debug” your way through a chaotic, ray-traced Alan Wake 2. The possibilities are endless!
